Our Mandate

We are a bible-believing religious entity, a parish of the Celestial Church of Christ, Worldwide and a body of Christ Jesus, a not-for-profit & charitable organization that is charged with social responsibilities of improving human life skills, solving social challenges, promoting sense of civic responsibilities, strengthening youth resilience, and increasing employability of youths through partnerships with viable community stakeholders in underserved and social high-risk communities that we reside.

Our goal is to do the will of the father (God) through the mission set out by Jesus Christ that is foundationally engrained in the fundamental principle of “love one another, as I have loved you”, as written in John 15:12. Based on that same principle, we are focused on the delivery of services that can positively impact human lives and transform humans that may be experiencing tough times and having difficulties navigating through the challenges of life into a life that can continually experience peace, love, and joy that can only be found in God through Christ Jesus, which is beyond human comprehension, abilities, and capabilities.

Our Ministries & Program Organizations

All programs at the church shall be under Celestial Church of Christ – God of Wonders’ control and supervised by church members being elected by the church and reporting regularly to the church. The church shall evaluate, plan, organize, and implement such ministries as the church deems necessary. At this present time, 8 programs in total constitute our ministries, and only 5 of those have commenced, and there are plans to kick start the remaining 3 very shortly.

1. GOW Evangelism

Evangelism is the act of preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ to the public or a specific audience. GOW Evangelism stands for “God of Wonders” Evangelism, which is an hour live broadcast performance on last Sunday of the month on Facebook and we are planning to expand the platform to include Instagram and YouTube Channel.

2. Youth Development Programs

Many communities suffer from multiple social challenges faced by the youth and there are infrastructural deficit in the underserved communities that are required to provide a safe place that both physically able, physically limited, mentally capable and mentally challenged youths can feel safe and a place that they can call their own, and experience life changing (transitioning from negative life choices into positive ones) opportunities and moments. Our objective with this program is to provide “A Place 4 Me” infrastructures, where youths can flourish within their communities, and they can equally receive life skills training, employability coaching and mentoring, youth resilience coaching and mentoring, sense of civic responsibilities training, and other youth programs that will improve their individual value system and their sense of responsibilities towards their families, communities, and their country (Canada and Nigeria).

3. GOW Bible Quiz

This is a monthly bible quiz program that is organized and anchored by the Coordinator, Digital Communications & Community Management. This program started in the year 2021 and it airs the same day that our monthly evangelism broadcast. Currently, GOW uses its Instagram platform to conduct the GOW Quiz, where up to a maximum of four winners per monthly edition get to win cash prizes.

4. Educational Scholarship

This program was designed to cater to those from less-privileged families struggling to pay their children’s school fees due to their financial incapacitation to do so. This program commenced in 2021 and we hope to maintain it as an annual charitable event. The scholarship program targets those individuals or students in high school and trying to fund their West African Examination Council (WAEC), National Examination Council (NECO), General Certificate Examination (GCE), Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), and those attending tertiary institutions. At this point, the selection criteria have not been fully defined but very shortly, may be used to drive student performance.

Celestial Church of Christ – God of Wonders’ does not issue or remit tuition fees to individuals, as a part of its policy to minimize fraud or misappropriation of funds by scholarship fund recipients. However, under certain extenuating circumstances, Celestial Church of Christ – God of Wonders will provisionally partner with another church in the award jurisdiction, through which the fund is remitted to the church and funds are paid by the intermediary church to the institution at the appropriate time. This program falls under our term-less projects.

5. Parishes Renovation Projects

There is Celestial Church of Christ parishes that are underfunded due to the financial incapacitation of the body of Christ at that parish. We visit the concerned church and evaluate the cost of work to be done and decide the scope of work that Celestial Church of Christ – God of Wonders will be able to complete based on financial allocation for the project based on cost estimates received from contractors. In conjunction with the Shepherd-in-Charge of the parish, the work will be completed. This program is planned to be an annual event, however, if work in one-year spills over to the next based on the extent of work scope, then no new church will be nominated for that year. This program falls under one of our term-less projects.

6. Catch 'em Young Day Camp

This program is designed for less-privileged children and children from underserved communities that are not able to have access to computers and opportunities to learning computer applications, and these Children are believed to be left behind, and highly likely that their employability factor will be highly reduced. To arrest the situation at this time and prevent a higher level of computer illiteracy in the years to come and increase computing skills acquisition.

Celestial Church of Christ – God of Wonders plans to set aside funds on yearly basis to acquire landed property, build, equip and operate a computer training school for Kindergarten, Elementary, and High School pupils from the less-privileged homes that are domicile in underserved communities, and the training will be for free to the attending students. This program will help them to develop their computing skills and increase their employability factors. This program falls under our term-less projects.

7. Music Ministry

Music is food to the soul, as we say. Palladium Private (2022) stated that music is therapeutic, and they identified the following 6 benefits that include but are not limited to 1) Improve focus on work or study. 2) It is a form of expression. 3) Music lifts the mood (especially may be helpful in the incidence of depression). 4) Music boosts confidence. 5) Music helps to relax the brain and mind. 6). Music helps to express emotions. Celestial Church of Christ – God of Wonders does not have a music ministry currently. However, when it establishes its worship hall, the music team will be assembled.

The church music team may extend its reach to the community as a form of service by performing periodically to entertain the community with live band performances to cater to the community’s social needs and it may also be a source of fundraising for the projects at hand.

8. Sunday School

Celestial Church of Christ – God of Wonders does not have a Sunday school currently. When the church has grown in congregational size and requires a Sunday school, this bylaw will be amended to reflect such development. This program falls under our term-less projects.
