INTERPRETATION
Love is such a beautiful reality when expressed. It has been proven to sustain relationships, heal wounds, reignite friendships, rebuild homes and reestablish commitments. Love has the ability to give meaning to destinies and efforts. When we reach out sacrificially to individuals and communities, love becomes the message that gives our sacrificial efforts a sense of purpose. Yet we can only show love to the extent of the capacity that we have. Capacity might be spiritual, material, emotional and even relational. Capacity can be in the form of influence and access. However, no matter how willing you are, you cannot show love beyond what you can afford.
This reality makes humans limited in the extent to which they can express love. Love always cost something. It is sacrificial. Everyone no matter how passionate they can only give what they have. Even when you have to borrow to show love, you can not borrow beyond the sphere of the influence or access that you have. Love is always predicated on the level of our capacity.
Again, this sets God’s Divine Love apart into a class far higher than what any class of beings can provide. In John 3:16, the Bible reveals the extent to which God went to demonstrate His love for creation. He went as far as sacrificing all He had – His only Son. However, God’s Love is not only exceptional and exceedingly great because of the magnitude of what He sacrificed for us; God’s Love is exceptional because it never fails. It never runs out. God’s Love is everlasting. It is not only immeasurable in magnitude; it is excellent because of its unending capacity.
In Jeremiah 31:3, God promises us an everlasting love. While this love is powerful enough to save or to sanctify us, it also has the ability to preserve us till the very end. This love has the ability to provide for our needs as well as the enablement to bring us to a place of eternal abundance. It not only has the ability to deliver us; by it, we are transformed forever to be more than conquerors.
So, rest today in the embrace of His everlasting love. Let His kindness draw you closer, and let His faithfulness strengthen your heart. The same God who spoke through Jeremiah still whispers to you today:
“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.”
PRAYER
Jehovah, Jesus Christ, Holy Michael.
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your everlasting and unfailing love. Help me to rest in Your faithfulness and to trust Your heart even when I cannot see Your hand. Draw me closer each day, and let Your love shine through me to others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
