RELEASE DATE: January 23, 2023

WEEK 4: (January 23 – January 29, 2023)

WEEKLY BIBLE READINGS:

Psalm 33:11-15 (NIV)

11 But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations. 12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance. 13 From heaven the Lord looks down and sees all mankind; 14 from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth— 15 he who forms the hearts of all,
who considers everything they do.

INTERPRETATION

As humans, we tend to stay in survival mode at all times which most times drifts us away from God and pushes us to rely on our own understanding to make things work. The book of Proverbs says “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight”. Today, I am adding that you need to prioritize God.

Prioritizing God means starting each day in the Word. Spending time in the Word each morning can help you to set the intentions for the day and align your plans with God’s. With the ups and down of life, it might be difficult to stay true to this as you rush to catch up with the day. But starting your day by spending time with the Lord, even if it is for a few minutes or a few hours, can fuel you for the day. Prioritizing God is about getting involved in a Christian Community. Fellowshipping with other believers is a must as it will help to stay committed to God while learning more about God and getting a support system through hard times. Ultimately, rest in the lord. When you are worn out, and tired as a result of the vicissitudes of life, you are obliged to rest in Him. Remember Matthew 11:28 says “Come to me, all who are labor and heavy laden, and I will give you rest”.

Without doubt, Jesus is not only the great Sustainer of nature and the generous God of providence, but He is our peace and hope, love and joy, and He is our Comforter, Defender – our Saviour and Friend. Rebellious humans and pagan people are blinded to the truth of His Word, opposed to His way, and hostile to Him, unaware that they could not draw another breath, either to bless Him or to curse Him, without His great, sustaining power. Such people have failed to prioritize God.

Beloved, but truly blessed, without measure, is the man, the woman, the people – the nation whose God is the LORD, who prioritize Him always. Why not start prioritizing God today?

PRAYER

Jehovah, Jesus Christ, Holy Michael, Our Father and Our Lord, thank you for your Word. Have mercy on me Lord. Help me to prioritize you at all times. Strengthen me to trust you always. I desire your knowledge, your understanding, and your wisdom; teach me to rely on you at all times even when things are difficult. This and many more I ask for through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Thank you and God bless. Shalom.
