INTERPRETATION

Life is full of seasons. Some seasons bring joy, answered prayers, and visible progress, while others seem filled with uncertainty, delay, disappointment, or pain. Every believer will experience difficult seasons at one point or another. The question is not whether hardship will come, but how we choose to respond when it does. Galatians 6:7–8 reminds us, “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.” Even in difficult seasons, God calls us to keep sowing the right seeds.

One of the greatest temptations during hardship is to abandon godly living because results are not immediately visible. We may feel like compromising our values, giving up on prayer, or responding to people with bitterness. Yet God’s Word teaches that every choice we make is a seed. Difficult seasons do not cancel the law of sowing and reaping. They actually reveal what has been planted in our hearts. James 1:2–4 encourages believers to count it all joy when facing trials because those trials produce perseverance and spiritual maturity.

Another responsibility of the believer is to remain faithful in obedience, even when obedience seems costly. Noah continued building the ark before there was any sign of rain (Genesis 6:22). Joseph maintained integrity despite betrayal, slavery, and imprisonment (Genesis 39:21–23). Their difficult seasons did not define their future because they refused to stop honouring God. Likewise, our responsibility is not to control the outcome but to remain faithful to God’s instructions. As Ecclesiastes 11:6 advises, we should continue sowing because we do not know which seed will prosper.

Difficult seasons also provide opportunities to trust God’s character rather than our emotions. Feelings often tell us that God has forgotten us, but Scripture says otherwise. Isaiah 43:2 assures us that when we pass through waters and fire, God will be with us. Romans 8:28 reminds us that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. Faith chooses God’s promises over present circumstances.

We also have a responsibility to guard our words during challenging times. Complaining, hopelessness, and negative confession can deepen discouragement. Instead, believers are encouraged to speak words of faith and thanksgiving. Philippians 2:14 tells us to do everything without grumbling, while Proverbs 18:21 reminds us that life and death are in the power of the tongue. Praising God in difficult moments strengthens our hearts and shifts our focus from the problem to the One who is greater than every problem.

Finally, believers must never grow weary in doing good. Interestingly, just after speaking about sowing and reaping, Paul writes, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9). God’s timing is always perfect. The harvest may seem delayed, but it is never forgotten. Every prayer, every act of obedience, every sacrifice, and every faithful decision made in honour of Christ is a seed that God sees.

When difficult seasons come, let them strengthen and not weaken your devotion to God. Continue sowing righteousness, trusting His promises, serving faithfully, and walking in obedience. The season may be difficult, but your harvest is being prepared by the faithful God who never fails those who trust in Him (Psalm 126:5–6).

PRAYER

Jehovah, Jesus Christ, Holy Michael.

Heavenly Father, strengthen my heart to remain faithful during every difficult season. Help me to sow into the Spirit through obedience, faith, prayer, and love. Keep me from discouragement and compromise. Teach me to trust Your timing, knowing that You will bring forth a glorious harvest in Jesus’ name. Amen.
