Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;

INTERPRETATION

For many Christians, the workplace is where faith is tested the most. It is one thing to worship passionately on Sunday, but it is another to remain truthful when dishonesty seems profitable, to show kindness when colleagues are difficult, or to maintain diligence when no one appears to be watching. Yet, it is in these ordinary moments that our testimony shines brightest.

The Bible reminds us in Colossians 3:23-24, “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.” This verse changes our perspective about work. Whether we are employees, employers, business owners, students on internship, or public servants, our ultimate Employer is Christ. Every report we write, every customer we attend to, every meeting we participate in, and every decision we make becomes an opportunity to honour Him.

Living with integrity does not mean we will always have the easiest path. In a world where shortcuts, corruption, manipulation, and half-truths are often celebrated, choosing honesty may come at a cost. We may lose opportunities, promotions, or even popularity. However, Proverbs 11:3 assures us that “The integrity of the upright shall guide them.” Integrity may not always bring immediate rewards, but it always preserves our character and keeps us aligned with God’s will.

Integrity also means being consistent. It is refusing to become one person in church and another at work. It is treating people with respect regardless of their position, admitting mistakes instead of hiding them, refusing to participate in unethical practices, and giving our very best even when no one is applauding our efforts. These seemingly small acts preach Christ more loudly than many sermons.

Our Lord Jesus taught in Matthew 5:16, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” People may never attend our church or read the Bible, but they will read our lives every day. Our patience under pressure, honesty in financial dealings, humility in success, and grace during conflict all point others to Christ.

Of course, none of us gets it right all the time. There will be days when frustration gets the better of us or when we fall short of God’s standard. In those moments, we should not give up. Instead, we return to the Lord in repentance, receive His grace, and ask Him to keep transforming our hearts. Christian integrity is not about perfection; it is about faithfully allowing Christ to shape our character day by day.

As believers, we are called to be ambassadors of Christ wherever He has placed us (2 Corinthians 5:20). The office, classroom, hospital, workshop, farm, marketplace, and boardroom are all mission fields. When we walk worthy of Christ through integrity, we become living testimonies of His transforming power. May our work never merely earn us a living, but also become a platform for bringing glory to God.

PRAYER

Jehovah, Jesus Christ, Holy Michael.

Heavenly Father, help us to honour You through our work each day. Give us courage to choose integrity over compromise, diligence over laziness, and truth over deception. Let our lives reflect Christ so clearly that others may see You through us. Strengthen us to remain faithful, regardless of the cost. Amen.
