RELEASE DATE: December 28, 2020

WEEK: 52/1 (December 28, 2020 – January 03, 2021)

WEEKLY BIBLE READINGS:

Psalm 51: 1-2

Have mercy upon me o Lord, according to thy lovingkindness, according to unto the multitude of thy tender mercies, blot out my transgression and wash me thoroughly from mine iniquities and cleanse me from my sins.

Micah 7:18

Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.

Isaiah 55:7-8

Let the wicked forsake his ways and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the Lord and He will have mercy on him, and to our God, for He will freely pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways.

INTERPRETATION:

This is the final episode of the Limitless Mercies Series and it focuses on the unforgivable sinners. The term “Unforgiveable” used in context here, does not denote that such sinner will not receive pardon or mercies for his/her sins rather, it is an indication that when the magnitude of sins reaches certain levels that may be considered “Too Much” or “Unforgiveable by Human Standards”, at the discretion and mercy of God, such sinner can still come to repentance and receive undue and undeserved forgiveness from God.

The first reading was written by King David, after his realization of the magnitude of the sins he had committed as a result of his lust for Bathsheba (Uriah’s wife). We often lose the sight of the fact that David did not just commit adultery but coveted his neighbour’s wife, gave a false testimony concerning Uriah (David’s neighbour), he committed adultery with his neighbour’s wife, he stole his neighbour’s wife and he finally murdered his neighbour Uriah (this can be termed the progression or scale of sins). Though David was a man after God’s heart and the Lord loves him very much and He forgave him of his sins but David was deprived of the opportunity to build a temple for God.

Regardless of the magnitude of your sins, I can confidently tell you that they are not too much for God to forgive you. Our God is a God of a second chance, that is why he sent his only son as remission of our sins, even when we were yet to sin, our price was paid. Have you killed many, that you have lost count? Have you stolen from your nation or employer that you have bankrupted such organization? What is your sin or what are your grievous sins? Please come to repentance today because tomorrow might be TOO LATE.

PRAYER:

Jehovah, Jesus Christ, Holy Michael to you O Lord we raise our voices this day and put before you this week, the new year and beyond, we acknowledge that we are sinners and we know that forgiveness is with you O Lord, remember our frame that we are mere dust, please accept us and forgive us by the power of your abundant and limitless mercies, as we come unto repentance. We also commit ourselves, children, families, friends and those who are unable to pray for themselves, as we put the year 2021 before you, guard and protect us, guide our utterances and steps, shield us from your wrath and every evil that may want to confront us in Jesus Christ name we have prayed, AMEN.

Footnote: “A life without Christ is full of crisis but life in Christ is a great life full of peace. Let the Lord be your Guide & Guard”

“Isaiah 59:1 – Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened that it cannot save, neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear”
