RELEASE DATE: December 07, 2020
WEEK 50: December 07 – 13, 2020
WEEKLY BIBLE READINGS: Psalm 40: 11
Do not withhold your mercy from me, O Lord, may your love and your truth always protect me.
Psalm 25 : 6 – 7
Remember, O Lord, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old. Remember not the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways, according to your love remember me, for you are good Lord.
INTERPRETATION:
The English Dictionary defines Mercy as “compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it’s within one’s power to punish or harm”. No wonder! King David had asked that God should not withhold His mercy, knowing the consequences of his sin. When we have done wrong and realize it, naturally the situation puts us in a vulnerable state, because we are a subject of punishment (as consequence for our sins or wrongdoing). So, when God grants us mercy, it is out of His compassion and love for us.
Abel had done no wrong but Cain his own brother had no mercy for his life, which he took. God’s great love found Cain despite the nature of his transgression, the Lord showed him mercy and spared his life and he lived many years after his great transgression. Though, he lived in constant fear.
PRAYER:
Jehovah, Jesus Christ, Holy Michael to you O lord we raise our voices this day and put before you this week and beyond, we come before you our father as we remember our frame and that we were made of flesh, formed from dust, we remember that imperfection dwells within us and we are vulnerable, please grant us mercy, forgive our iniquities and be our guide on the path of righteousness. We also remember our children, families, friends, and those who are unable to pray for themselves in Jesus Christ name we have prayed.
Footnote: “A life without Christ is full of crisis but a life in Christ is a great life full of peace. Let the Lord be your Guide & Guard”
“Isaiah 59:1 – Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened that it cannot save, neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear”
