WEEK 35: (September 13 – September 18, 2021)

WEEKLY BIBLE READINGS:

Deuteronomy 26:8 (NIV)

8 So the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, with great terror and with signs and wonders.

INTERPRETATION

Our God is a mighty God. From time immemorial, God revealed himself to our forefathers differently giving birth to various appellations for God. The ultimate purpose of all revelation from God is so that human beings can have a personal relationship with Him. The Bible speaks of a God who not only exists; He is also personally involved in the lives of His people. Consequently, we find, in the scripture, the record of God making a personal appearance to individuals. To Adam & Eve, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, and Moses among others.

The scriptural reading under review restates how God delivered the Israelites from the Egyptians with His mighty hands. Israelites have been under slavery at Egypt but at the appointed time, God delivered them and brought them to a place of rest. There are other occurrences in the scripture where God has displayed his powerful might to deliver his people. He delivered Daniel from the clutches of ferocious lions, David from countless pursuers and even Lazarus from four days of death; that same God is able to deliver us from whatever schemes the world has set against us. 2 Samuel 22 : 2 – 4 should be our daily confession:

“2 He said:

“The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
3     my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield[a] and the horn[b] of my salvation.
He is my stronghold, my refuge and my savior—
from violent people you save me.

4 “I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise,
and have been saved from my enemies.”

Looking at the trends of recent events within our society, believers have lost hope, thinking God is not capable of doing ‘it’. Our God is able. When we call upon the name of the Lord, he works in mighty, mysterious and perfect ways. God is perfectly able to do any and every work it takes to deliver us. God loves to take the very circumstance that seemed insurmountable and use it to reveal to us the reality of His power and love. He loves to take the wall of Jericho that seems to stand between us and our dreams.

There is only one thing for you to do. Spend time in prayer and allow God to deliver and protect you.

PRAYER

Jehovah, Jesus Christ, Holy Michael, thank you for your word, we pray you show us your mercy and where we are afflicted, deliver us; where we are troubled, give us peace. We pray for your divine intervention in our lives and free us from every form of torment. We surrender our life for help, we submit totally to your will, may your mighty power come into our lives and strengthen us to make exploits. This and many more we ask for in Jesus name. Amen.

Thank you and God bless. Shalom.
