RELEASE DATE: March 18, 2024
WEEK 12: (March 17 – March 23, 2024)
TOPIC: Restoring order to a chaotic world
WEEKLY BIBLE READINGS:
Philippians 2:13-16 (NIV)
13 For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. 14 Do everything without grumbling or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.”[a] Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky 16 as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain.
INTERPRETATION
Last week, we brought an emphasis from 1 John 5:19 and Psalms 82 and established from scriptures that the whole earth realm is under the spell of darkness. Psalms 82:5 explains the faulty foundation of the cosmos and the darkness of this age. In the next verse, the role of man as the functionary crowned by God as the manager of this earth realm was called to question. Man was crowned the god of this world by God yet he lost his crown to the enemy of God – Satan. Every time that something goes wrong with the one who wears the crown of headship over a territory, the territory becomes thrown into disarray as it suddenly becomes susceptible to harm by the one that has overpowered its head.
Man could not guard his crown jealously enough and as a consequence, the systems ordained by God on the earth became disrupted and all of creation was exposed to corruption. To bring restoration to the earth realm, God in His wisdom thought it good to first restore man to his position as the god of this world so that the earth will in turn be realigned back to its original shape (Romans 8:19-21).
To achieve this, Christ Jesus, the only begotten Son of God was made the atonement for man’s sins so that man may regain access to God’s Divine Presence as it was in Eden. Man’s access to the Presence was the foundation for the orderliness in the world before the fall of man.
The river of God that flowed in the garden and which watered the whole earth after it became parted became restricted to the Garden of Eden (i.e., the Presence of God) after man was sent out of the garden and God placed Cherubims at the entrance to the Garden.
Now, man can fellowship with God’s Presence through the sacrifices of Jesus and the River of God’s Spirit now flows within his belly according to Jesus in John 7:37-39. However, the injunction according to Jesus is for the River of God’s Spirit to flow out of man’s belly and not just within him just like the river in Eden became parted to cover the whole earth.
Man was created by God to live for a cause greater than himself from the very beginning. God’s only mandate to man was to dress the garden and to keep it. God was responsible for man’s welfare and only needed man to labour to keep the earth in shape. Now that we have been brought back into alignment with what we originally lost, God is counting on us to be burdened with bringing the cosmos into realignment. However, what we see today among us believers is the endless pursuit of personal comfort with the spiritual resources made available to us in Christ Jesus. While it is not wrong to be in comfort, man must not become so engrossed with comfort that he forgets his primary assignment.
Every measure of comfort bestowed to us by God is designed to make the work of God more convenient for us. This consciousness is required in us if we will fully deliver on our Divine errand.
How do we go about restoring our world after the order of Christ? Philippians 2:15 provides an answer. The only solution to darkness is illumination. Every time light shows up, darkness becomes forgotten.
God has not called us to struggle with darkness rather all that He requires from us is to shine brightly enough. There is a way to shine brightly so much that men will be unable to deny our good works and the glory will return to God (Matthew 5:16). In every sphere where believers have found themselves, if they can pattern their lives and their means after Jesus so accurately for the world to clearly see the distinction between righteousness and unrighteousness, God’s glory will soon cover the whole earth.
God is calling on to His sons everywhere to be the perfect representation of light so that darkness will be unable to disguise any further.
PRAYER
Jehovah, Jesus Christ, Holy Michael
Dear Father, we ask that you will keep our hearts aflame with the burden to shine brightly and distinctively for you in Jesus’ name! Let your glory radiate through every step that we take and let your kingdom profit much from our daily endeavours. Amen!
