INTERPRETATION
The scripture says for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Sin has been with man right from the Garden of Eden and it’s a major barrier to having a smooth relationship with God. Of a truth, despite the perverseness in this world, believers are expected to pursue a holy and righteous life not only because this is what God demands from us but because of the last day – Judgement Day.
Here on earth, God created a level playing ground for all to thrive and exercise the gift of choice. When God sends the rain, it falls on the wicked and on the righteous; that is to say, there are no clear distinguishing factors to ‘who is who’. That’s why sometimes you see the wicked thrive and live a good life. The wicked are corrupt, they spend their days in prosperity, increase in riches and have more than what their hearts could wish for. But what will happen on the last day?
It was made clear from the verse we read that God will sever the wicked from among the righteous in the last day. Therefore, do not envy the wicked when they prosper. Since the time of John the Baptist, it has been consistently heralded that the kingdom of God is at hand; two thousand years after, that day of reckoning has not arrived. Through judgment, God wants to reveal the true believers in God and the evil servants; evil shall return to evil, good shall return to good.
Today is a reminder for us to do good and pursue a just and righteous life. The scripture explains that the righteous shall be separated from the wicked on the last day. Where would you belong after the separation? On the right hand or on the left?
PRAYER
Jehovah, Jesus Christ, Holy Michael, thank you Lord for your Word, we pray this day that you help us to keep your commands, align our minds with you and grant us the spirit to follow your instructions. We pray you come into our hearts, help us to do your will and in the end we shall dwell with you in your kingdom.
Thank you and God bless. Shalom.
