John 14:13-15

INTERPRETATION
One of the ways to properly demonstrate that our revelation and experience of the Fatherhood of God is accurate is to consistently live a life that is filled with answers when we pray. Jesus teaching in the book of Luke chapter 14 verses 11-13 emphasized that God our heavenly Father is a better provider than earthly fathers. It is in the nature of God to always provide for the needs of His children in the demonstration of His loving fatherhood. Yet, we must realize that divine provision does not necessarily guarantee human reception. It won’t make any difference if God is so willing to give good gifts to His children but His children are not trained to receive them. There is a way to receive from God and that way is the way of obedience.
Oftentimes in life, we get to a certain crossroads where we need several things from God. Sometimes these needs are beyond our capacity such that we can only solely depend on God for the provisions that we seek. In situations where these provisions don’t come in time, we are pressed to believe that God is probably not interested in giving us what we need. In some desperate situations, we may even assume sometimes that there’s just something about our needs that makes God’s Divine hand hesitant to make a release to us. Yet, we must realize that if God has given us His all, then there’s nothing in the entire heavens and earth that can be too much or too hard for God to give. Twice, He has given us His all. First, He gave us His only begotten Son when Jesus Christ hung on the Cross for us. Second, He gave us His Spirit after we received the gift of salvation.
Having received all of God, is there any else that God should be insecure to give out? Could there be anything more difficult for God to make available to us? The gift of salvation that we have obtained in Christ was to establish a means of access for us to God. Jesus is the way that leads us to the Father and this is why we pray to the Father in Christ’s name (John 14:6). Yet, many Christians are still living an impoverished life despite the provisions that our Heavenly Father has made available in Christ Jesus. How can we claim to have the God of the entire universe living in us and yet claim to be suffering from a lack of mundane needs and wants? There has to be a missing link.
Now that we are saved, our obedience now counts before God. We did nothing to provide salvation to ourselves. It was Christ that died for us. It was Christ who shed His Blood for us. It is now expected of us to reciprocate our love for God by living a life of obedience to Him. Obedience is our way of expressing our commitment to God as His dear sons and securing His enabling hand over our lives in all our dealings.
PRAYER
Jehovah, Jesus Christ, Holy Michael.
Dear Father, we thank you again and again for the expression of your love towards us in that you gave us your Son even when we were in disobedience. Now that we are reconciled to you, help us to daily live in obedience to you in Jesus’ name. Amen!
